ok i got a retarded virus from watching a cloverfield movie trailer and i had popups coming up and my homepage changed. i decided to go system restore and go back to yesterday. now everythings fine my homepage is back to were it was and its good. some questions i have are will tomorrow i have my homepage changed again or no. and also is system restore like a timemachine were i can go back and its like nothing ever happened?
should i run a virus scan just in case?also some people have said right click on my computer system restore and then click turn off system restore whats the purpose of turning the off? last question is should i download a virusscan and if yes which one. im afraid that the virus scan will be a virus in itself and i dont wanna have to register a billion times and my homepage changed to its website and if you could please give me a trustful one that would be more helpful. i know i have alot of questions im just paranoid right now cuz it was a nightmare
ive asked this question about 4 times already but i just want to see what the majority of people will say.
I feel your pain… unless you are very careful, you can download a new program or software update, then find that it makes your system unstable. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could go back to a point in time when your computer was working? With System Restore, you can.
Think of System Restore as the Undo command for Windows. While your computer is on, System Restore takes regular snapshots of your Windows configuration, settings, and program files. These snapshots (known as "restore points") are stored on your hard disk so you can revert back to that point in the event of a computer emergency. Restore points are automatically created when new software is installed, when Windows Update applies changes, on a daily basis, and when you request a manual restore point. If you can remember the most recent time when your computer was working correctly, System Restore will roll back all system changes to that point.
THIS IS WHAT someone posted under one of my questions. do you agree?
System Restore works just like the person said. You should run a virus scan AND a spyware scan after restoring your system back to a previous point, because who knows what may have been on your system in the past.
Also, be aware that if you turn off System Restore, you will erase all previous restore points that your computer created.
