I would like to see the battle between AK and the secularists become less volatile, sure. But for the President of the United States (or any head of state) to get involved in the internal affairs of another country is almost always a bad idea. Even if the rest of the world agreed that Obama should somehow calm the parties, I don't think most Turks would appreciate having a foreigner traipse in and try to solve problems that are very complex, and very difficult for non-Turks to properly appreciate and understand.
If Obama were to ever choose a side, it would be only as a result of either AK or the secularists flagrantly violating the law and causing an international disturbance, and I don't see that happening.
